Undergraduate Students
Architecture Department Student Career Fair
The Penn State Department of Architecture is pleased to announce our eighth annual:
ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS CAREER FAIR
March 25 and March 26, 2010 (Thursday evening and Friday)
Penn State Department of Architecture and Bank of America Career Services Center
Despite these economic times, Penn State Architecture students remain incredibly resourceful at finding positions with firms around the world. Firms who have previously hired Penn State architecture graduates are especially seeking our assistance in sending them our best and brightest. In addition many students and graduates are enthusiastic about an opportunity to volunteer, work with a not-for-profit and humanitarian organization and contribute to situations benefiting from their skills and knowledge. Others are working to gain LEED certification, add to their technology tools kit, learn construction, or return to graduate school for advanced study. The Department and the students are using this time to become even better.
Therefore, we are broadening our Career Fair this year to include those organizations and companies who seek students interested in volunteer or humanitarian career options, as well as traditional architectural and engineering firms. We still honor our original mission – to give those who have generously supported the Department over the years - through scholarships, gifts, lectures, teaching, or by consistently hiring our graduates - a “first chance” to meet students preparing to graduate this spring, as well as students currently in their third and fourth year of Architecture. There are forty-seven (47) students in this year’s graduating fifth year class, and over 70 younger students who are looking for positions (internships, volunteer or construction) in or related to the profession. We also have a growing number of exceptional graduate students as a result of our MArch program. We invite you and/or a representative from your company to come and meet our students, talk with them and look at their work. Based on the successful career searches our students accomplish on their own, we hope this event will prove to be an enriching experience for our students and a rewarding career opportunity for your company.
We would appreciate an RSVP by March 11, 2010. Click on this link for the registration form. Due to the number of rooms that are available for the interviews conducted at the Bank of America Career Services Center, we have a limit of 12 firms or companies that can reserve an interview room. Others should encourage students to interview on site at your office.
The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel has a block of 15 rooms on hold if you would like to reserve a room for Thursday, March 25. The phone number for the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel is (800) 233-7505. You will need to reference #ARCC10A when you call for your reservation. You must make your reservation no later than December 23, 2009.
If you have any questions, please contact Darla Lindberg, Associate Professor of Architecture (814) 865-1574.
